Thinapp 4.6 - Scanner is busy
Hi,
We have a weird problem.
When we use a Cannon DR-2510C scanner (32bit driver) on a windows 7 32 bit client from a virtual application everything works fine.
On a windows 7 64 bit client we receive the error 'scanner is busy operation cannot be completed - 4437'.
The scanner can be used on a windows 7 64 bit client from a local application.
The scanner doesn't have a 64bit driver.
Any ideas on how to make this work?
Greetings,
Lindsay
ThinApp 4.6.1 Adobe Reader SideBySide error
Hi guys I have a problem with a thinapped Adobe Reader 10.10 on a terminal server farm. The application log is full with the following error message (almost all minute a new one): Level: Error, Source: SideBySide, EventID: 33 Activation context generation failed for "\\fileserver\userhome$\Programs\AppData\Thinstall\TA_ADOBE_READER_1010_MUI\SKEL\23364-4.manifest". Dependent Assembly Adobe.Reader.Dependencies,processorArchitecture="x86",publicKeyToken="0000000000000000",type="win32",version="10.0.0.0" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis. I terminal server (Citrix XenApp 6.0) is based on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 MUI (64-bit). It looks like an architecture problem but the packager VM is also a x64 system (Windows 7 x64 Enterprise). ThinApp version: 4.6.1 build 361923 Somebody had a simliar problem or an idea what it could be? Thank you and best regards, Nicola

Ive coppied in the package .ini file just incase you guys can see something wrong since this is the first app ive ever done using this system.

Cisco Jabber Client 9.0.x ThinApp Issues
I am currently having an issue with Cisco Jabber Client ThinApp running on Windows 7 remembering the login credentials on startup.
BACKGROUND:
We are in the process of updating our VDI environment to Windows 7. Our current environment is running Windows XP SP3 in a non-persistent configuration. Initially I built the thinapp using ThinApp Version 4.7 on a clean Windows XP VM. The ThinApp works fine under Windows XP but for some reason on Windows 7 it refuses to remember the login information from session to session. If I open it, log in, exit and then relaunch it remembers it in the same session.
I have also installed Jabber on the Parent VM and it has the same issue.
I am just wondering if anyone else has run into this issue? Is anyone else using the Cisco Jabber Client?
Thanks,
Jon
SAP GUI Excel export
So I have my SAP LogonPad presented to my Linked Clones with ThinApp and everything is working great except for one thing. When using the export to excel function of reports, the file is being created in the proper location but Excel is not being opened with that file. The user can manually open excel and find the file, but I would really like to have the automation back that exists when everything is native installed. Office is native installed, and the OS is Win 7 x64. I'm wondering if the problem is that a) SAP was captured on Win XP and b) Office was not installed when SAP was captured.
Im wondering, even though it kinda goes against how a ThinApp should be captured, I should capture SAP on the master VM for the Linked Clones? Office is installed, and the OS is obviously the same, but the drawback would be that this ThinApp capture could only be used on my Linked Clones and no where else.
Anyone have any thoughts or insight for me?
Add thinapped Add-in to thinapped Office 2010?
Hey guys,
I have a thinapped version of Office 2010, which has the option to load additional packages via the plugins folder.
I wondered if it's possible to package an Excel add-in, wrap it up as an .exe or .dat, put that into the plugins folder and load it with Excel 2010...
Would this be possible or do I have to capture all add-ins I want together with Office in order to run them?
thanks
Frank
A quick help...
Hi there.
I'm new here on the board and new with this powerful application as well...
I created a portable version of some game and tested it. It works well but when I tried to run it on another computer with limited account (user), it doesn't work - a classic firewall error appears (similar to this picture: http://www.archibel.com/fileadmin/archibel/images/selfsupport/FirewallLogoTesting/Firewall_Error.png) and when I click on Cancel button, nothing happens.
During development I sticked to default settings. The only thing I changed was Sandbox location to USB flash / portable media and SandboxPath=Thinstall in Package.ini file.
Please, can somebody tell me, what I did wrong?
Thanks

Accessing the local registry from a ThinApp bubble
Hi,
We're in the middle of packaging Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 with thinapp so one of our business lines can use it under Windows 7. The reason we're using reader 5.0 is that the business line is relying heavily on Acrobat indexes and 5.0 is the last version to support it. To access the index list, the app is relying on registry values in the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\5.0\Search\cIndexes\cIndex" key. We have about 50 users using it, and none of them uses the same index list. Since the list tops at 256 indexes, we cannot put all indexes in the same bubble.
So far, it will only fetch them if we put the information inside the thinapp registry.
Since we wanted to avoid making 50 bubbles, we're trying to have the bubble open the host registry to fetch this information. What we first tried was to change the concerned keys in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER.txt file from "isolation_writecopy" to "isolation_merged", but it didn't work. We then tried to remove the file, thus letting the application access the registry in writecopy mode, but that didn't work either. We thought it might be because the keys are not in the Wow6432 node, but we have the same problem with the Thinapp running inside of Windows XP.
Is there something we're missing?
To help you help us, I provided the HKEY_CURRENT_USER.txt made by default by thinapp, and a .reg file containing an example of the registries specific to one of our 50 users.
Thank you in advance.

Run As Service
I was wondering if anyone has run into this problem. After ThinApp'ing the Cisco Historical Reporting Client application on a vanilla Windows XP virtual machine, I can't get it start on any other systems. It always gives the error:
The key part definitely seems to be related to a "Run As" service. I'm just not sure what this is or where it's at or if it's something that can be virtualized with the app...
I'm running VMware 4.7.3-891762...
Thanks!

ThinApp Package not using Working Directory
I have been attempting to package some of our applications that use config files for settings. We would like to have the config file external to the ThinApp package but tell the package to use the config file in a folder we specify on our network. My attempts at trying this have repeatedly failed for numerous packages I have tried to create. In the package.ini I have the isolation mode set to Merged and WorkingDirectory parameter set to point at our network share but the package always fails. If I do package the application with config file in the same directory as the .exe the package works fine. Am I missing something?
ThinApp programs starting slowly
I have created some ThinApp programs but i've noticed that they are starting slower than when they are installed. Is there any way to improve the start up time of the ThinApp programs?
Virtualization of Internet Explorer 10 is not successful
Hello,
i´ve tried to virtualize the Internet Explorer 10, but after the successful packaging, the exe-File does not start. It opens only the small usual notify window from ThinApp.
My packaging-environment consists of a blank Win7 32 bit VM.
ThinApp is installed in Version 4.7.3
Does anyone know what settings I have to make?

Adobe CS3 Design Premium and FlexNET woes...
Hi, back again... after sorting out the .MSI and CAB issues I've suddenly run into a new problem. We have the Design Premium "bundle" (which means there's no way for me to not install all the extra bloat Adobe forces on us) and it uses a FlexNET service for licensing (I believe).
Here's my issue,
I installed it, thinapped it, built it and ran it. All worked fine.
I then use the MSI to distribute the software to my users... which is where the problem comes into play...
Apparently, the ThinApp can't register/run/verify/whatever the licensing service as a USER.
If I make my users local Administrators all the Adobe CS3 thinapps run just fine.
If a normal non-privileged user (or power user) tries to run any of the Adobe CS3 thinapps it fails. (Licensing for this product has stopped working... please reinstall or contact administrator).
Any ideas?
capture problem with ThinApp 4.5
I did a capture of a VB.net 3.5 application on a clean XP system using ThinApp 4.5. It can be only loaded on XP. On Vista or Win 7, the main form would not load because one of the ocxes failed during the InitializeComponent's EndInit method.
I tried the capture again on Vista. Now it works on Vista only. Captured on Win7 and it works on Win7 only.
Then I did a capture again on XP using ThinApp 4.3, and used 4.5 to build it. It loads fine on XP, Vista and Windows 7.
It seems there might be bugs with the capturing process of ThinApp 4.5.
I tried to use Log Monitor to generate a log, but it crashed at the very beginning...
Problems with Thinapp package SPSS 19
We are trying to Thinapp IBM SPSS Statistics 19.
After installing and having it activated via SPSS® site license on a clean Windows XP machine we capture it with Thinapp 4.5
Problem is that we get the following error after having the package started:
>Error # 7001
>There is no license for IBM SPSS Statistics.
>Execution of this command stops
>Specific symptom number: 18
End of job: 2 command lines 1 errors 0 warnings 2 CPU seconds
Support of IBM gave us the following response:
"Resolution Description:

Citrix Online Plugin V12 (web) and ThinApp 4.5
Hello,
First time poster and I'm pretty new to application packaging. I was just brought onto the team at my workplace and ran into a huge brick wall with this application.
Background: Our finance department uses an ADP hosted Citrix environment for one of their job functions. They go to a website which requires the installation of the Citrix Online Plugin V12-web plugin. This is an active x plugin for Internet Explorer. When they log in they are given three links. These links launch a .ICA file and then the plugin will connect to the Citrix environment (hosted at ADP) and, for example, map a drive on our client computer to access specific files in the remote location.
Problem: When I package the application I cannot get the necessary functions to, well, function.
What did I do: I took a clean VM and did a pre-scan. Then I installed the plugin. Then I confirmed that I could connect to the website and perform the necessary functions. Then I did a postscan. I captured the application in Merged-isolation mode. I built the application as a separate .DAT file and I enabled all of the plugin executables as entry points, as the application uses several of the executables during the normal operation. I also enabled internet explorer and configured it to go directly to the website. The user will simply launch this IE shortcut.
Results: I can log in to the website. Internet Explorer recognizes that the Active X plugin is there and enabled. I click the .ICA file link and IE downloads it to a temporary directory and fails. Well, no file association. So I associated the .ICA file with the entry point wfcrun32.exe which is how it is configured on the capture VM. Tried again. ThinApp launches wfcrun32.exe and then nothing happens.
Theories: In my research it looks like the Active X plugin, upon entry to the website, automatically launches wfcrun32.exe in the background under the svchost.exe service (this is what it does in the capture VM). When you click the .ICA link, wfcrun32.exe executes it and then calls wfica32.exe (another entry point). This actually creates the Citrix connection. For some reason this is not happening correctly.
Note: Running wfcrun32.exe or wfica32.exe against a downloaded .ICA file exhibits the same results - It looks like it is launching and then nothing happens.
Has anyone had any experience with this by chance? Any other ideas to look into?
Thanks,
Richard
Microsoft Access 2010 License Error
Hello,
So we have a request for Access 2010 to be thinapped. I have not had issues in the past with 2007 and 2003 version of these applications but with 2010 I get a license error:
"Microsoft cannot verify the license for this application. A repaire attempt failed or was cancled by the user. The aplication will now shut down."
This WAS captured on a clean vm with nothing installed but the OS. Any ideas?
