I am trying to create a ThinApp build of Skype 5.1.x for use with 64-bit Windows 7.
I have tried to build it on Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 32-bit. In each case, the host's microphone could not be detected. Oddly, the other inputs work, including video.
Has anyone experience this problem? I suspect that this is a problem virtualizing some audio driver, but I can't figure it out.

is there a bug in vregtool app (version 4.61 or 4.7x)?
everytime i use it with arguments like ImportReg, ExportReg, ExportTxt, PrintKeys, PrintStats, SysCompare or DelSubKey, i always have this message when launching :
Missing required parameter CapturedUsingVersion in section [BuildOptions] for .\Package.ini
Please set CapturedUsingVersion=3.X or CapturedUsingVersion=4.X to match the version of ThinApp/ThinInstall used to originally capture the package.
vregtool only work fine with ImportDir Argument.

I've thinapped Office 2010 Pro Plus SP1 (MSI package, using as base VM Windows 7 x32, latest Thinapp 4.7.1); I want to be integrated with the local Adobe Reader X, IE and Firefox on view virtual desktops (running Windows 7 x64).
So for example, say I just want pdf preview in Outlook -> before building I will add the needed "VirtualizeExternalOutOfProcessCOM.." for adobe reader. If deployed on Windows 7 x32 pdf preview works in Outlook, but not on Windows 7 x64.
So I uncommented wow64=0; this fixes the issue.
But introduced another one -> printing does not work anymore in Office, even to the XPS printer.
Similar, if I want deeper integration and instead I create an entry for local IE, FF, Adobe Reader to be able to use the option send as email from opened pdf docs, have Office plugins in browsers; the integration will work on Windows 7 x64 only if I uncomment wow64=0 (for pdf preview in Outlook, the rest works without this) but this will introduce the printing issue for everything that is virtualized (e.g. Office, local IE/FF ran through bubble, etc).
By printing does not work I mean that by clicking print nothing happens; it's like the print job does not get created (the small printing window appears and closes quickly).

Grab a Windows XP SP3 desktop and a ThinApp of your choice, any old ThinApp will do, add a cmd entry point if you don't have one already.
Within the command prompt run the following command
runas /user:domain\username cmd
When prompted enter your password and wait for Dr. Watson to give you the bad news.
The reason I ask, for those playing at home, is that I've got a program that we publish to a view desktop as a thinapp. The user's log on to the desktop with their standard access user account, but some functions within the application require elevated privileges (to access remote computers and the like). The app itself (physically installed) works fine, but as soon as I put it into a thinapp the app inconveniently encouters a problem and needs to close.
Yes, I am using ThinApp 4.7.1, but the error also occurs under 4.6
Hello, i have tried to Thinapp the citrix online-plugin 12.1.
The package is running well, but the icons in the startmenu are wrong.
Anybody knows the connection between the icons and a *.exe ore whatelse file or have another solutuion?

When I run the Thinapp Prescan I come up with this error message and was just wondering if anyone has encountered this same error message on a plain vanilla Windows 7 installation.

Anyone experiencing problems ThinApp'ing the newly release iTunes 11 (32-bit)? I am unable to get a build that works. The message about the DVD/CD driver missing messages appear, even though I had already used the trick to import the CD/DVD driver registry into the build. In addition, .exe will NOT close properly even when app is truly exited. The only way is to force quite it from Task Manager. Tried in Vista SP2 and Windows 7 SP1.
If I specify only certain groups for authorization during package creation, or later in the .ini file under "PermittedGroups", what happens when I assign that ThinApp package to a desktop pool? Will the ThinApp package only show up for those users I specified? or will it show up for all users and give everyone else an "access denied"?
I have a ThinApp of an Excel Add-In. I created an Excel entry point that utilizes the native excel.exe. However, is it possible that when the user goes to
the start menu Microsoft Office -> Microsoft Excel that it uses the ThinApp?

we have thinapped MS Dynamics AX 2009 SP1 RU6. If we open MS Word files via AX internal document handling (Office 2010 is installed physically) every time the MS Office configuration dialog appears. After 1 minute or 2 it has finished and MS Word opens the document as expected. Of course that's not the case if AX Client is a native installation.
What can I do for getting rid of this issue?

Is it possible to control the size of the virtual memory of thinapped application in some way?
I was looking in the manuals, but did not find anything.
The fact is that some applications consume 3 times more virtual memory than an installed one.
Sooner or later this results in an error Not enogh virtual memory.
Is there the solution of this problem?
I created an empty package (no files, no registry keys) to have entry points for the natively installed Office 2010 in order to enable using multiple virtualized plugins using appsync.
I deleted the HKEY*.txt files as all I want is for office to act as if natively installed.
I added:
[Isolation]
DirectoryIsolationMode=Merged
RegistryIsolationMode=Merged
to my package.ini file.
I **assumed** that this would basically run any entry point natively (since there is no customization and I merge everything).
However that is not the case.
Running RegEdit natively and from within the package, I don't see the same thing. Why is that?

I am trying to Thinapp Audacity 2.0.3. However I capture this application, I am getting "RelaunchUsingCreateProcess::CreateProcess failed" when running the compiled Thinapp.
Looking at other forums this problem is referred to, but I can't really find a solution.
I have captured on both Win7 x86 and WinXP x86 using mainly Thinapp defaults and no changes to package.ini. Selected full isolation mode, restricted to an AD group and compression enabled - other settings left as default.
Does anyone have any ideas on this please?

When running a portable application, a folder will be created and put some sub folder and files into it. When done with the application and try to erase the created folder, a message pops up saying:
"Cannot delete Registry.rw.tvr.t is being used by another person or program. Close any program that might be using the file"
Is there any way to resolve issue?

So I'm trying to use ThinAppConverter.exe to automate the building of some packages since I can't seem to get Factory to download and work correctly (corrupted downloads). The problem I'm facing is it fails with an authentication error in VIX. I noticed it is using the bundled 1.10 VIX, which does not support vSphere 5.x from the documentation. So I installed 1.13 on the workstation that I am running ThinAppConverter.exe from, which supports up to 5.1 (I'm not at U1 or U1a), but ThinAppConverter.exe still wants to use the bundled 1.10 VIX. How the heck do I get this to work, or am I jsut hosed on automating ThinApp packaging?

I wanted to see if anyone who has Thinapped MS Visio Viewer 2010 has done it as a standalone application. i.e. without any version of Internet explorer. Or do you have to package both Visio Viewer and IE in the same Virtula package?
My problem is that i have virtulised both VW 2010 and IE 8 as seperate packages and linked the two applications. When i go to open up a VSD file it comes back with 'this application needs to be started within anoth program' i understand that the VW 2010 is just a Active X, but i though that this would be loaded into the IE8 bubble when i double click the VSD file that i want to open.
I'm stuck on this and really dont undertand the concept of how Thinapp handles something like this.
has anyone doen this before or got it working?

So, running Horizon View 5.1 on vSphere 5.1, and with ThinApp 4.7.3 the bundled VIX version that comes with ThinAppConverter.exe is 1.10, which does not support vSphere 5.1 (only supports vSphere 4.6 at the highest). So, I installed VIX 1.12.2 on the machine I am running and tried to run ThinAppConverter again, but the dang thing still wants to use the bundled version even though it no longer states in the log that VIX isn't installed. This tells me the ThinAppConverter is seeing the updated VIX, but can't or won't use it.
So, anyone know anything about this and how to get it to work or does VMware need to get ThinApp in step with View 5.x and vSphere 5.x? I hope it's not the latter.
How to virtualize application so i can access the program settings and installation files after this. I mean this setting files which a program stores in Application Data folder when is installed.
Something like portable Firefox from portableapps.com which has profile folder and folder with installation files where you can change settings and modify files.
When i use ThinApp in the end i am getting just one .exe file.

After building process is done everything seems ok but the problem is that it can't launch some programs like portable Free Commander and portable Photoscape.

I am trying to make a package for IE9 that i will be able to run on 2008 R2 servers that run Citrix 6.5
so i have made this package by installing a windows 7 ent vm workstation and there i capture the IE9
now on that vm with windows 7 this package work fine and also on my pc that run windows 2008 R2 it also work fine
but when i try to run in on any of my new citrix servers IE9 open and then it show this popup error:
"A problem displaying (name of page) caused Internet Explorer to refresh the webpage"
and then IE9 freeze.( this happen for IE9 32bit and 64bit , my servers are all 64bit)
now i am working on this for a week now and i have Google all the net and i have found all the article i can find on this error
and i have tried it all with no success
now the only difference between my pc that run the windows 2008 R2 and the Citrix servers are that my pc is a physical pc that run Intel i5
and all my citrix servers run on the Vmware esxi 5.1 platform and that i don't have all the windows update install on my pc and on the citrix i have install all the Microsoft updates.
so it can be a hardware problem as part of the article i have found say that it can be related to the video card driver but if this is the case how is it working on the vm with windows 7 that run on the same esxi server
and it can also be a Microsoft update that make this problem or it can be something that i am not thinking on and for that i need your help
the IE9 that are install on my citrix server run ok and there i don't have any problem but the IE9 from the package that i have build give me this error
one more strange thing is that in my package i didn't enter any home page and when i run this package it take the home page i have set in the local server as my home page
i have also build a package for IE7 and this one work fine and there this didn't happen to me that the home page on the server was set as my package home page.
now i have try to build this package as isolated and as not isolated and this didn't make any difference as for my problem or for the home page that are been taken from the local server.
so i need help here and i need it ASAP
