Unable to load required Type Library C:\Program Files\ThinstallPlugins\scripting.dll

Hi all,

I'm a newby for ThinApp, and I'm having this problem with a package, maybe someone could help with.

One of my packages runs perfectly as it is, but I need to add a vbs script to have it do something before the application starts. However, as soon as I add ANY script to the package and rebuild, I get this error on startup of the application:

Scripting System:

Unable to load required Type Library

C:\Program Files\ThininstallPlugins\scripting.dll

Error Code=0x8007000e

I can see scripting.dll being added to the build at the end of the building process, so that's not the problem.

The same thing happens when I build the application without a script, but applink it to another application that does have a script inside. (Although this second application runs fine when run on its own, and the script executes without problem).

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Vincent

I would like to virtualize Visio Viewer. Problem is that it is a plugin for Internet explorer, so there is no entry point for Visio. I tried to use iexplorer as an entry point, but Visio files won't open.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thank you all.

Teradata SQL Assistant (error)

I'm struggling with Teradata SQL Assistant so if anyone has had any success with this I'd appreciate the help.

Here is my problem:

I install the software in order as required by the ODBC drivers.  In order for this to function correctly it must be installed with the pre-req's in a specific order (from my understanding from http://forums.teradata.com/forum/connectivity/trying-to-set-up-odbc-connection)

The error (attached) is in the Teradata ODBC Driver Setup:  "Unknown error occurred in the terasso library."  (very helpful)

The locally installed copy functions correctly, however the Thinapp version gives the me same error regardless if I run it from a "clean" PC or a PC with the local copy of Teradata installed.

I've run procmon.exe from Sysinternals and tracked down any DLL's that  appear to be missing from the package and included them with no solution.

From what I've been reading, this error happens when the pre-req's aren't installed before the ODBC driver and the program itself but this isn't the case.  It almost seems like the ODBC can't see the pre-req's when it runs in the bubble but procmon.exe isn't complaining about not finding any files.

Any thoughts?

Adobe Creative Suite 5 (CS5) problems

So... we've been running CS3 (Design Standard) almost with no problems but are now upgrading to CS5.

Problems I've run into so far are

- InDesign totally fails to launch with an error

(The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click on OK to terminate the application.)

- apps fail to close properly

  (hanging processes)

I've built these on a Win XP SP3 virtual computer (with latest MS Updates) and tried running them on the same computer after a rollback to the snapshot... Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat Professional seems to be working fine (with Bridge and Mini-bridge) but not InDesign. And they don't seem to exit properly. I've used both v4.5 and v4.6 to capture and build several installations by now...

I'm guessing this is all related to Adobe's copy protection or some such nonsense... BUT (maybe I shouldn't say this out loud) while googling for users with the same problem I've found pirated PORTABLE versions of InDesign so it apparently is possible for the less scrupulous people among us... so why can't I do this correctly with ThinApp?!

Anyone tried, made it yet? I must admit my capturing skills stop at running thinapp - installing app - capturing. I don't know enough about ThinApp to tweak around with all these options available through VBS'es etc.

Chrome in ThinApp 4.6

I am trying to capture Google Chrome using ThinApp 4.6.

Unlike previous ThinApp version, the .exe of Chrome now runs without crashing! (yeah)

However, even when plugins mode is enable, I cannot get any of the plugins to work. Also, it refuses to install and extension, citing that it cannot create some temporary install directory.

Can someone please verify this and help?

Virtualized wfica32.exe does not work if workstation already has version of wfica32.exe running

$

We are using ThinApp 4.6 to virtualize the Citrix XenApp Online Plugin (web) v12 and a Citrix ICA shortcut. The idea is that workstation without a Citrix client installed will be able to run a Citrix application that has been packaged by ThinApp, but I also want users who do have a Citrix client installed locally to be able to use the package as well. Currently that latter part is failing.

When a user launches a .ICA shortcut from the package, and the workstation already has Citrix installed/running, the ICA shortcut is launched using the local Citrix client instead of the packaged Citrix client. That's bad in our case because I have customized registry settings for the packaged Citrix client to take advantage of a Citrix virtual driver that we have written. The local installation of Citrix may or may not have that configuration already in place.

This seems to be caused because the packaged wfica32.exe is called, then realized that there is already a wfica32.exe active on the machine, so it just hands off the request to that already-running (local) wfica32.exe.

Q: Anyone know how to force the 2nd instance of wfica32.exe to run?

Q: Any other ways to solve this that you can think of?

Oracle 10g patch and psapi.dll conflict

I'm trying to package Oracle 10g (with patch version 10.2.0.4). When trying to "setup-capture" the Oracle patch, it appears that the Thinapp process is hanging the setup routine. While in the midst of capture, the Oracle install routine will hang. If I exit out of the Thinapp Setup Capture, the install will continue. I've narrowed it down to a native psapi.dll tug-of-war.

Has anyone encountered this issue when trying to package the oracle patch? How did you wind up resolving the issue?

I'm using the latest Thinapp version 4.6.

Thanks

Working Thinapp Package fails on Windows 7

Hi,

I've Thinapped Microsoft Dynamics AX. The package works fine on alle systems except Windows 7.

A Error screen pops-up:

An invalid directory structure for Microsoft Dynamics AX was detected,

The subdirectory c:\progam files\microsoft dynamics ax\50\client\bin does not exist.

I've also packeged the application on a Windows 7 machine, but starting the package still fails with above error.

Starting the package with administrative rights fails also.

If installed locally on Windows 7 the Dynamics Application runs fine.

any ideas ?

Thanks,

Guido

Thin App IBM Iseries Access

We have IBM Iseries Access thin App'd but cannot find where the connection entry is stored with the I/P address of the AS/400.  I can go into a session and log in and open navigator and input it and it saves it under my user profile but I have 2000 users I need to do this with. Has anyone else figured out where the connection entry is stored and how I can push it out to all users?

Thinapp and Access 2002 Runtime

I'm desperetaly trying to thinapp micsosoft access runtime 2002.

So far it runs, BUT I have no native connectivity with adp/ade files.

A MS Access 2002 project is basically bound to a native connection,

but as soon as I start my app, the connection is broken.

My systems are WindowsXP SP2 / SP3.

Could anyone check why this is happening.

A simple adp or ade which is connected to a MS SQLSERVEr 2000

has no active connection when virtualized, despite the fact that

everything works fine when running the app natively.

Am I missing something?

Alec

Thinapp Office 2010

Hello,

I read the fresh article from vmware blog for thinapp Microsoft Office 2010. I did all the steps like it said in the article but when I try to open a thinapped office application (for example WORD), I have this error message : 'Microsoft Office cannot verify the license for this application. A repair attempt failed or was cancelled by the user. The application will now shut down'.

I want to precise that when Thinapp copied the files, copy of one or two dlls failed but I think it's not important. I want also say that I used a retail installer of Micirosoft Office 2010 and before I did the postscan, I put my licence key (using the Control Panel and the "Modify" option for select "Enter a licence key") and after I started WORD and I activated my copy with the phone activation method (all was ok). After that I followed all the steps normally.

For information, I tested to start the thinapped Office 2010 on a Windows 7 machine (I don't know yet if it was a x86 or x64) when I had this error. But when I open the thinapped application on the computer I used to build the project (a Windows XP SP3 machine with Office 2010 installed), all is ok.

To finish, I didn't use a clean machine to make the capture. Office 2010 was installed before (but I don't think it's the cause of my problem).

Thank you in advance for your help !

ThinApp XenApp 6 Management Console

$

Hello

I have been having issues trying to package the Citrix XenApp 6 Managemnt Console in Thinapp.  I was using ThinApp 4.5, and just tried on ThinApp 4.6.1 that was released recently.  Neither work, but have different symptoms.  In my ThinApp 4.5 packages the mmc.exe console cannot see the virtual file system, and will error with a file not found message.  In the ThinApp 4.6.1 packages I have tried the mmc.exe (32bit version) process spawns and closes over and over again using 100% cpu until I logoff or do a "taskkill /im mmc.exe /f" to kill them all.

I have also tried copying the mmc.exe file(s) into the virtual file system and also calling the MSC via a MMC.exe command line instead of using the launch exe the consoles uses by default.  So far I am not getting anywhere.

I have seen one other poster in another forum mentioning having similar problems before with the MMC console (for something else not xenapp, in Windows 7).  so I must wonder outloud in this forum, is this a known issue with MMC plug-ins on either Windows 7 or Windows 2008r2?  Has anyone packaged the XenApp 6 console before in ThinApp?  I have packaged XenApp 5 console in Thinapp 4.5 without any issue before.

The relevant difference I assume is the platform, which is of course Windows 2008r2 (which is 64-bit).

Thanks,

Bruce

Windows Server 2003 Admin Tools

Hi all,

With the removal of the admin tools from Windows 7, I have been attempting to thinapp the toolkit to make it available on our Windows 7 64bit machines.

I created a package with all the admin tooks, exchange tools, and resource kit, wrapped it into a .msi

On my WindowsXP 32 bit test machine, everything works fine with no errors. I see all the tabs, however, when I install/run it on my Windows 7 64bit desktop, its throws an application error.

I see this when I open ADUC.

mmc_error.PNG

I click ok, and ADUC opens, however, when I "right click" on a user, I receive the following(click the image if you don't see it., I see it when I click on it, but not in the post.):

exchangeerror.PNG

My question is:

Has anyone has an issue like this, or been success in deploying the admin tools, with the exchange toolkit and resource tools?

Am I overlooking something? Is this 1 of those very limited few applications that cannot be thinapp'd?

I appreciate your time, and input.

Thanks,

Chris

Thinapp IE plus plugin questions

$

I am new to thinapp and would like to ask some questions on how to thinapp internet explorer with the plugins flash, silverlight, etc....

From what i understand i cannot run the locally installed internet explorer to work with the thinapp'd plugins.  I would have to thinapp IE 7 or 8 and then do plugins for the plugins with the applink i understand that.      But i would like for my local users to always be able to use flash or silverlight or shockwave when they are using the internet.    Would i have to make the primary internet explorer for the workstation be the thinapp'd one so users will have the plugins to use.      How do you make it so the users can always use the internet explorer that i have thinapp'd that has the plugins with the applink.  Or is there some other way to do this?    I don't want to have put in hundreds of websites in the thindirect.txt that have flash or some other plugin to work for this IE to open for internet browsing as well as some in house applications?   I apologize if this is hard to understand, i hope my question is understood.

Thank You.

Toad for Oracle 10.6 + SQL Tracker

$

Hello,

I'm using Thinapp 4.6.1 on a clean XP SP3 x86 VM. I packaged Toad 10.6 and made sure that all Toad operations work. Then I completed the build and this time launching the Thinapp Toad on the same VM that has Toad natively installed. Once I launched SQL Tracker it would not open and gave the following error: " Installation Integrity Error, Could not retrieve dll version for [wmmap64.dll]; error=1812(The specified image file did not contain a resource section.) " From here I also just went ahead and launched SQL Tracker on a clean VM, if nothing else just for the sake of doing it, knowing it would fail, it did.

I generated the log file and I see where it's failing at, but it does not provide any info that makes sense to me. I registered that dll inside the bubble and still nothing.

Has anyone thinapped Toad for Oracle SQL Tracker?

Thinapp, Quickbooks and DFS

$

Hello,

I tried to thinapp QuickBooks 2011 and found such problem: Thinapped Quickbooks can't normally worked with user shell folders (My Documents, Desktop), which was remapped to network drives. Shares for network drives created with DFS, when used usual shares there is no problems. Thinapped application can see content of these folders, but can't writes to them.

The most interesting in this situation, that all works fine with previsions version of Thinapp (4.6.1). If application build with 4.6.2 there is above problems, if with 4.6.1 - everything OK. Doesn't matter which version used for capturing.

Is this bug in new version? Or this can be fixed by some settings?
