Wondering if anyone can help, I have a VBScript which is attempting to copy a folder to the local sandbox but it keeps copying to the virtual file system, is there a way around this? I have implemented a msgbox to verify the path I have specified and it's given me the location of the local sandbox but when it copies the folder it copies to %AppData%/Local on the virtual file system. Hope my explanation makes sense. I'm assuming the redirect is by design.

Wonder if anyone can help, bit of a weird one, I have successfully thinapped Office 2013 and it appears to be working fine except for one thing, the previewer in Outlook will not work, when you click on an attachment to preview it either comes up with "unable to load dll oart.dll ... access denied" or the following message "This file can't be previewed because ofan error in the Microsoft Word previewer", the access denied message has me wondering but that dll is present in the captured package in the Office15 folder.

Please see details of the thinapp:

- Office Standard 2013 32bit captured on Windows 7 vanilla 32bit, straight capture, no plugins etc

- Steaming to Window 7 64bit (not sure if that is an issue? everything I've read said it should be fine streaming Office 32bit to Windows 7 64bit)

- Using ThinApp 5.1.0

- Outlook previewer is working fine locally on the thinapp machine

- I'm only testing the previewer on other Office documents (word, excel etc)

This is a minor issue but our users will be expecting the previewer to be working.

Any ideas?

we're experiencing another problem with the thinapp of Firefox; since Mozilla Firefox 50.x, the thinapp the packaged application only shows a white screen, even without the menubar.

We've seen this problem in Firefox versions 50.0.2, 50.1.0, 51.0 and 51.0.1.

Thinapps of Firefox versions 49.0.2 and lower, work fine.

We've tried:
- 32b Firefox
- 64b Firefox
- Thinapp 5.2.2
- Thinapp 5.1.0
- base image (only OS)
- production image
- and all combinations of the above

Our OS is Windows 7 (Enterprise N), SP1, 64b.

As a build option in the package.ini, necessarry since Firefox version 49.x, we added
ExternalDLLs=ucrtbase.dll

We ran LogMonitor but couldn't identify the problem.

Does anyone encounter the same issues?
And if so, and when solved, what was the solution to the problem?

I attached a printscreen of the empty/white firefox screen and the LogMonitor-file.

Does anyone have an idea to the solution?

Fortunately we've made progress since Thinapp 5.2 enables support for Windows 10, however every package that we've rebuilt with Windows 10 has the same issue. It can take anywhere from 1 minutes to 3 minutes to actually open. Once open, the application appears to function normally.

Is anyone else seeing this? I can't seem to find any posts regarding this issue but for us its happening on physical and virtual windows 10 machines.

I haven't tried to fully repackage an application on 5.2 yet but hoping that won't be required.

Any advice would be appreciated, if not then I'll go ahead and see if we can start a ticket on it.

on windows 10 I had to refer to this KB : 2137873

Now this app won't work on windows 10 Anniversary Edition (has stopped working!), the 5.2.1 does not support this version of windows 10?

any suggestions?

We have tried packaging Paint.NET but it did not work. We used a clean virtual machine while doing that but the resulting .exe file does not even work on the virtual machine although Paint.NET works on it.

.NET is packaged together with Paint.NET. The error is:

"Missing Import C:\Prpgram Files\paint.net\SxS\X86\ucrtbase.dll -> kernelbase.dll:CreateProcessA"

We have also tried copying .dll files in different directories but it is still not working.

I have successfully thinapp Foxit Phantom PDF 8.3. But have some trouble with OCR.

If user run OCR engine (it starts FREngineProcessor.exe) Foxit crashes on exit (see attach).

If user doesn't launch OCR Foxit stops normally.

Did somebody resolve similar problem?

P.S. OS: Windows Server 2012 R2, Thinapp ver.: 5.0 - 5.2.2

As skype have interactions with audio and video drivers, i am unsure whether the functionality will work.Any inputs?

we deploy a ThinApp with Word 2003. When a user is forced to update to "Creator Update" the ThinApp does not work anymore.

I think there would be the need of a fix from VMware, ist there something in the near timeline?

I have an in house application which will crash when entrypoints  are launched.This is happening in random ..may be 7 out of 11 times...i have tired building the application with 4.7 and 4.7.3 version..But still same issue.

error message--" application .exe has been stopped working"

Also tried giving isolation mode to merged.

Appreciate any inputs in further troubleshooting for resolution.

We're running ThinApp version 4.0.0-2200 and we've noticed an issue; if we capture an application that results in a package over 2GB in size, we get a small MSI file and two or more CAB files. While running the application using the EXE links and DAT package file works fine, when we try to install/deploy the MSI file it always comes up with an error:

Error 1334. The file 'F0000001' cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in the cabinet file 'XXXX_2.CAB'. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package.

The first CAB file contains a file called F0000001, and that's all that is in the CAB file. The second CAB file might be large, like 500MB or so, however inside it are only two very small files: F0000002 that is 110KB and F0000003 which is only 27KB. I can't see any F0000001 file stored in the XXX_2.CAB file, but something is obviously in there due to the large size of the CAB file. I'm wondering if the build process is buggy and has somehow left the second CAB file in an incomplete/corrupted state?

I've tried building the package with the package.ini line CompresstionType set to "Fast" and "None" and the issue occurs with both types of compression. I'm building now with "Small" compression turned on in hopes I'll 1) get only 1 CAB file, and 2) get an error-free installation. If that is the case, this may be a bug in the way the package builder generates multiple CAB files.

we're experiencing a problem with the thinapp of Firefox; since Mozilla Firefox 49.0, the thinapp process of the packaged application kills after a couple of seconds after starting the entrypoint. The problem occurs in 49.0 and 49.0.1 (x64).

We ran LogMonitor but couldn't identify the problem.

I copied he most important entries in the trace file into the end of this discussionentry.

Does anyone encounter the same issues?

I have a problem with virtualized applications with ThinApp 5.2.1 and Windows 10. In other operating systems work perfectly, but in Windows 10 gives me the following error: " ThinApp has encountered an unexpected error. Click Abort to close the application, Retry to debug, or Continue to ignore the error. Support info PID=3564, create_process.cpp@1949.

They are compatible with the virtualized ThinApp Applications in Windows 10 ?

I need to run an thinapped Office on Win XP.

I have tried to anaylze Office Outlook with Dependency Walker and I have copied all needed dlls to the %SystemSystem% folder.

But when I want to run the thinapped Office on the capturing machine after build the app crashes immediately.

Its error message : Fehlermodulname:    StackHash_ed7a.

Does anyone have a hint how to analyze the error message?

Attached you can find the dll files in the %SystemSystem" folder.

So... we've been running CS3 (Design Standard) almost with no problems but are now upgrading to CS5.

Problems I've run into so far are

- InDesign totally fails to launch with an error

  (The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click on OK to terminate the application.)

- apps fail to close properly

  (hanging processes)

I've built these on a Win XP SP3 virtual computer (with latest MS Updates) and tried running them on the same computer after a rollback to the snapshot... Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat Professional seems to be working fine (with Bridge and Mini-bridge) but not InDesign. And they don't seem to exit properly. I've used both v4.5 and v4.6 to capture and build several installations by now...

I'm guessing this is all related to Adobe's copy protection or some such nonsense... BUT (maybe I shouldn't say this out loud) while googling for users with the same problem I've found pirated PORTABLE versions of InDesign so it apparently is possible for the less scrupulous people among us... so why can't I do this correctly with ThinApp?!

Anyone tried, made it yet? I must admit my capturing skills stop at running thinapp - installing app - capturing. I don't know enough about ThinApp to tweak around with all these options available through VBS'es etc.
