Hi,
I successfully thinapped a 30-day evaluation version of Camtasia Studio v8.6 (https://www.techsmith.com/camtasia.html). However, I cannot get it to open .MOV files even with Apple Quicktime player installed and captured together with Camtasia. The thinapped version of the program runs fine but when it comes to opening a .MOV file, it says 'Cannot load file. It is either an unsupported media type or required codecs are not found'.
Has anyone faced the same problem? Is there any workaround for that?
Thanks!
Hello Guys,
I have recently struggling with Firefox ESR thinapp, actually it already happened in previous version 38.8.0 ESR, but I was able to fix that issue by this guide :
1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste pref and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the browser.preferences.inContent preference to switch it from true to false
But since FF is changing the policy as stated in this from them :
Firefox 38 switched from a pop-up Options dialog to an "in tab" options page. Some users are finding that it doesn't work for them, but so far we haven't identified the reason - and this - Note: I don't know whether that will be in Firefox forever or is a transitional feature. As you've probably noticed, the long-term trend is to remove things that pop up.
It looks it already came and I am not able to fix that (should be since version 42) for the last 45.2.0 ESR version in thinapp. When I install the FF, all works, but when I get the packaged FF by thinapp, then it does not work. All like about:home, about:preferences, about:newtab etc. command does not work, even some https links.
I have tried to thinapp it by also older version, but no success. Currently we use last 5.2.1 .
Would you know what can be wrong there with FF? Anyone of you have the same?
Thanks in advance for any advice. Pakcage.ini attached
Hi everyone,
we're experiencing a problem with the thinapp of Firefox; since Mozilla Firefox 49.0, the thinapp process of the packaged application kills after a couple of seconds after starting the entrypoint. The problem occurs in 49.0 and 49.0.1 (x64).
We ran LogMonitor but couldn't identify the problem.
I copied he most important entries in the trace file into the end of this discussionentry.
Does anyone encounter the same issues?
And if so, and when solved, what was the solution to the problem?
Does anyone have an idea to the solution?

Hi,
since about 5 years we work with a MS Word 2003 ThinApp without much troubles. But since a few month, when we start the Word_ThinApp, it starts new threats over and over again, up until Word is crashing.
This happens with Wiindows 7, not with e.g. Windows 10 (but we are unable to upgrade all machines).
Any tipp around?

If I would create a tool to extract thinapp .dat files based based on reverse engineering would it be ok to publish it?
Hello,
I need to run an thinapped Office on Win XP.
I have tried to anaylze Office Outlook with Dependency Walker and I have copied all needed dlls to the %SystemSystem% folder.
But when I want to run the thinapped Office on the capturing machine after build the app crashes immediately.
Its error message : Fehlermodulname: StackHash_ed7a.
Does anyone have a hint how to analyze the error message?
Attached you can find the dll files in the %SystemSystem" folder.
how to edit existing thin app application?
Wondering if anyone can help, I have a VBScript which is attempting to copy a folder to the local sandbox but it keeps copying to the virtual file system, is there a way around this? I have implemented a msgbox to verify the path I have specified and it's given me the location of the local sandbox but when it copies the folder it copies to %AppData%/Local on the virtual file system. Hope my explanation makes sense. I'm assuming the redirect is by design.
Hello,
We have tried packaging Paint.NET but it did not work. We used a clean virtual machine while doing that but the resulting .exe file does not even work on the virtual machine although Paint.NET works on it.
.NET is packaged together with Paint.NET. The error is:
"Missing Import C:\Prpgram Files\paint.net\SxS\X86\ucrtbase.dll -> kernelbase.dll:CreateProcessA"
We have also tried copying .dll files in different directories but it is still not working.
Thanks in advance.
Note: Same problem with TortoiseSVN.

Hi All,
I have created Virtualized ThinApp package for GIMP 2.8.18 but it get crash every time during shortcut launch with error popup as "Program has stopped working" (screen shot is attached)
I have tried the number solutions suggested on different forum for application crash issue with GIMP like delete the user profile C:\Users\username\.gimp2.8 etc… but none of It working for Virtualize package.
I would like to know, whether GIMP 2.8.18 support to Virtualize application ThinApp or not ?
Any suggestions or input will be helpful.
Fortunately we've made progress since Thinapp 5.2 enables support for Windows 10, however every package that we've rebuilt with Windows 10 has the same issue. It can take anywhere from 1 minutes to 3 minutes to actually open. Once open, the application appears to function normally.
Is anyone else seeing this? I can't seem to find any posts regarding this issue but for us its happening on physical and virtual windows 10 machines.
I haven't tried to fully repackage an application on 5.2 yet but hoping that won't be required.
Any advice would be appreciated, if not then I'll go ahead and see if we can start a ticket on it.
Does anyone have Acrobat Reader 11.0.09 created as ThinApp? When i click the new big "Open" button i get an error message. This should open a Acrobat.com Explorer.
ERROR:
COMDLG32.dll missing on the computer. Install the program again to correct the problem
Installed on Windows 7 x64 blank with ThinApp 5.1.0 or ThinApp 5.0.0
The same error also comes at Windows XP blank with TinApp 5.1.0 or ThinApp 5.0.0
Someone has a solution?
Wonder if anyone can help, bit of a weird one, I have successfully thinapped Office 2013 and it appears to be working fine except for one thing, the previewer in Outlook will not work, when you click on an attachment to preview it either comes up with "unable to load dll oart.dll ... access denied" or the following message "This file can't be previewed because ofan error in the Microsoft Word previewer", the access denied message has me wondering but that dll is present in the captured package in the Office15 folder.
Please see details of the thinapp:
- Office Standard 2013 32bit captured on Windows 7 vanilla 32bit, straight capture, no plugins etc
- Steaming to Window 7 64bit (not sure if that is an issue? everything I've read said it should be fine streaming Office 32bit to Windows 7 64bit)
- Using ThinApp 5.1.0
- Outlook previewer is working fine locally on the thinapp machine
- I'm only testing the previewer on other Office documents (word, excel etc)
This is a minor issue but our users will be expecting the previewer to be working.
Any ideas?
We have recently moved to 64 bit base OS for Horizon.
When building any thinapp on this new base OS, it will not work if I include a VBS file (for doing the FirstParentStart functions etc):
It does attempt to run, but fails:
Found similar issue (VB script crash thinapp ) but the solution doesn't apply to me as that DLL is not present in the package.
Any ideas?
Using ThinApp 5.2.2
Dear all,
we are searching the correct way to ThinApp Mozilla FireFox version 45, we've tried everything that we found in internet, any user guide ..but it was useless.. no one of this works well.
Each time we want to start Adobe Flash Player version test, on this link https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html, we get this error;
************************************
Unable to load DLL
C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\FlashPlayerPugin_21_0_0_213.exe -> COMDLG32.dll
Access Denied.
************************************
We also tried to ThinApp Adobe Flash Player separately and link it to the project through package.ini with command "OptionalAppLinks=plugins\*.exe" but for Firefox doesn't work, it works very well for Internet Explorer.
As last test we've tried to install directly on base image on local machine but we get the same error message.
There are some suggestions ?
Hello,
By any chance has anyone tried to capture XenApp with an earlier IE version while having native receiver installed? I am attempting this but the problem I have is that the Xenapp file that is downloaded (launch.ica) opens receiver rather than Xenapp and therefore fails. I have tried to create that ica file and rename to cica with the association to XenApp. That fails saying the ICA file is corrupt (it must expect the format even though the contents are all clear text).
Would appreciate any info on a way around this. I've tried some isolation settings but keep getting either the same issue or it is too isolated and doesn't talk to the back end servers.
Thanks for any assistance.
Hi,
I have problem with my thinapp application.
After close my application the process (for exemple LibreOffice.exe) stay in task manager (process tab).
Have you solution ?
Regards.
The Thinapp I am having issues with is Ergopedia Physics of Sound. This was Captured with v5.2.2 -4828553 on a Windows 7x86 Capture Machine. When this app is launched on a Windows 7x86 linked clone it launches correctly but when I launch it on a Windows 10x86 linked clone I get a Runtime error (I am attaching a screen shot of this). I can right click the Thinapp and choose to Run as Administrator and the app will launch without the Runtime error. Also I can install the application natively on the Windows 10x86 linked clone and I do not get the Runtime error. I have also tried Capturing the app on a Windows 10x86 Capture machine and when launching it as a Thinapp in a Windows 10x86 linked clone I still get the Runtime error but when right clicking the Thinapp and running as administrator I do not get the Runtime error. The screen shot shows a path that is pointing to what I believe to be National Instruments, National Instruments is installed with this app by default and runs LabVIEW 2013 runtime engine.
