Thinapp 5.2.1 and Windows 10

I have a problem with virtualized applications with ThinApp 5.2.1 and Windows 10. In other operating systems work perfectly, but in Windows 10 gives me the following error: " ThinApp has encountered an unexpected error. Click Abort to close the application, Retry to debug, or Continue to ignore the error. Support info PID=3564, create_process.cpp@1949.

They are compatible with the virtualized ThinApp Applications in Windows 10 ?

Thanks for the help

ThinApping Firefox version 52 Using ThinApp 5.2.2

Hello,

I am trying to ThinApp Mozilla Firefox v52 using ThinApp v5.2.2.

This is on a Windows 7 VM.

When I try to launch the ThinApp on my Windows 7 workstation, I receive an error that reads...Missing Import C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\ucrtbase.dll->kernelbase.dll:CreateProcessW.

Does anyone know how to correct this? I currently have Firefox v49 ThinApp'd and it works fine, but the newer versions have this issue.

Many thanks for any help you can provide!!

%SystemSystem% dll missing import

Hello,

I have captured an application but when I start it I got the error:

Missing Import C:\Windows\system32\ucrtbase.dll->kernelbase.dll:CreateProcessA

This dll is in the package at %SystemSystem%.

When I use the package entry externaldll:ucrtbase.dll then the error "shifts" to another dll.

Please can anyone give me a hint whats going wrong?

TIA

Thinapp 5.0, removable disk and ghost drive letters

I'm using some simple applications packaged with Thinapp 5.0.  When a thinapped V5 app is running and I eject a removable disk such as usb flash disk, the drive letter remain assigned.

When a removable disk is re-inserted, the next available letter will be assigned..

The only way to reclaimed the "ghost" driver letters is to close any thinapped application..

Any clues?

ThinApp / Windows 10 - Creator Update

Hi,

we deploy a ThinApp with Word 2003. When a user is forced to update to "Creator Update" the ThinApp does not work anymore.

I think there would be the need of a fix from VMware, ist there something in the near timeline?

Downloads not available with ThinApp virtualised Internet Explorer 10

I am attempting to virtualise Internet Explorer 10 on Windows 7 x64 to deploy on Windows 10 x64.

I can successfully virtualise this using ThinApp, however when using the virtualised copy on Windows 10, I am unable to download any files and also cannot access the downloads area within Internet Explorer either from the menu or using the CTRL+J keyboard shortcut.

Anybody seen this behaviour before or managed to get downloads working with ThinApp virtualised Internet Explorer?

Thanks

Your Runtime License has Expired

$

I have a customer who downloaded and installed the 60-day Trial of ThinApp... by the 45th day or so, she liked it so much that she had

already virtualized about 3 dozen or so Apps... The License file was, of course, the Trial license...

Well, she just purchased and received her ThinApp "real" License, but not before the Trial one ran out...  So now, every time she launches

a ThinApp'd app, she immediately gets a small screen that says, "License Error:  Your Runtime License Has Expired"... She can only

click "OK", and that's it... Nothing else...

Where can I tell her to go, to input the new Production license file that she has just purchased, so that all her Apps "work" again?

Is she just hosed?  Will she have to re-virtualize all those Apps again?

Thanks.

Custom Application Crash (c0000005)

$

Hi,

I'm having a problem with the virtualization of an application under Windows 7. That application is working fine under Windows XP (both local install and Thinapp). Under Windows 7, the local installation is working but the Thinapp crash with a c0000005 exception. Please note that I tried packaging it using WinXP SP3 and Win7. Both version are giving me the same error. When I'm using Thinapp Log Monitor, I find that  GDI32.dll is throwing that error. I tried to copy an xp version of the GDI32.dll to %systemsystem% folder on the capture but the application is not starting on both XP and Win7.

Can anyone guide me through resolution since I think I know what is causing the problem but I don't know how to solve it.

Thank you

Francis

error messages from thinreg.exe

$

Hi,

In certain cases, ThinReg.exe displays error messages or warnings on the desktop of the client computer. These messages may be confusing for our end users. We have tried the "/quiet" option but it didn't prohibit these warning- and error messages.

An example:

A virtual application was provided to a client computer. The user has accidentally removed the desktop icon. A ThinReg.exe /u <Virt.Applivcation.exe>" displays the warning: "Errors occurred while uninstalling <Virt. Application.exe>. Some files or registy keys may remain." The user has to quit this box by clicking the "OK" button.

Question:

Could you provide an option that allows to direct all error messages and warnings into a log file. No errror box or warning message would appear in case this option was enabled. This would allow us to transfer the log file to a central location and have it analysed by an administrator.

Do you have any other suggetions how the warning and error messages could be suppressed?

ThinApp - Paint.NET problem.

Hello,

We have tried packaging Paint.NET but it did not work. We used a clean virtual machine while doing that but the resulting .exe file does not even work on the virtual machine although Paint.NET works on it.

.NET is packaged together with Paint.NET. The error is:

"Missing Import C:\Prpgram Files\paint.net\SxS\X86\ucrtbase.dll -> kernelbase.dll:CreateProcessA"

We have also tried copying .dll files in different directories but it is still not working.

Thanks in advance.

Note: Same problem with TortoiseSVN.

WriteCopy unable to delete directory/files in %appdata%

Hello!

I am trying to virtualize my own application which uses ActiveX flash and flash writes its cache to %appdata% folder, but for some reason i cannot access that folder from my own application? (it all works perfectly if i run my application normally)

Basically my application retrieves the full path of %appdata% which is "C:\Documents and Settings\myuser\Application Data" and if i try to delete something from there, let's say flash cache which should be located at "C:\Documents and Settings\myuser\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects\" then it just says "Cannot delete file: Cannot read from the source file or disk" even though directory exists in the sandbox in the "%appdata%\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects\"

I use SHFileOperation api for the deletion.

merged as default isolation mode

Hi,

just wanted to know why merged isolation is now the default isolation mode when capturing new packages ?

As I understood, writeCopy isolation prevent virtual app from modifying the base system, which I thought was better ...

I still continue to capture apps with writeCopy isolation mode (modifying the default), is it a bad practice ?

Does merged isolation mode offer a better application compatibility ?

thanks

Need Help with Thinapp. App loads reports into Excel/Word. Will not open, trying to load from c:\windows\temp

$

I have an app that only runs in Windows XP called Yardi.  We have new users running 7 and I need to get this working.  So far everything converts and works out fine except the option to view reports within the app.  In the app you have an option to run a Report.  When the report runs you can open it in Excel or Word.  Before I just thinapped it without loading the reports and it would crash as soon as you clicked the word or excel icon.  Now I install the app, run a report and open the report in excel/word, then complete the Thinapp Process.

This looks like it is working, when I click the excel button in the report, it launches excel but fails to load the report.  It is looking for the report in c:\windows\temp.  Thinapp is saving it in c:\documents and settings\user\appdata\.....\temp...

Is it possible to set something somewhere to make this work seamlessly when the click the excel button?  Attached is my package.ini    Let me know if you guys need anything else...
