Acrobat splwow64.exe virtual or external.

$

0

Adobe Acrobat X using Adobe PDF printer to create PDFs from .DOC(X). It just starts Word and print document.

The splwow64.exe process is used to translate the driver model of a 64-bit operating system and a 32-bit program.

In case when Splwow64.exe starts in external environment thinapped Acrobat can't finish PDF generation.

Winword.exe create PDF in Desktop or MyDocuments folder, but PDF file must be created in Temp folder with name like AD3455.tmp.

Acrobat searching for the file in Temp folder infinitely. It seems like Acrobat can't send printing parameters to external application.

This happens with Thinapp 5.0, when using Thinapp 5.1 Acrobat X normally create PDF with external splwow64.exe.

I can use splwow64.exe in virtual environment but this approach has poor compatibility with other applications.

Acrobat thinapped with Thinapp 5.1 has other bugs, so now 5.0 is using.

What is standard approach to splwow64.exe, external or internal?

Why such different behavior between the same package build with 5.0 and 5.1?

Web App started after ThinApps is launched is redirecting saved files to thinapps folder

Help -

We have a thinapps session that we run on a PC that runs an app on a tottally different network.  Lets call it The Schedule App.

If we launch an unrelated WebApp first, then the thinapp session... the WebApp works fine and writes it's files to the AppData directory as expected.

If we launch the thinapps Schedule App first, then the unrelated WebApp... the WebApp appears to run fine, but when it tries to save it's data, it gets redirected to a thinapps/schedule app folder under program data...

Why is this happening, and how to we fix this?

Thanks for any help... I can't seem to get any support on this issue.

Thanks,

Steve

Hi everyone,

I got some issues when I try to print (or open printer properties) on my Office 2000 Thinapp...an error is showed:

Cattura.JPG

Error in English:
"Windows cannot print due to a problem with the current printer setup. Try printing a Windows test page, make sure the printer is turned on and online or reinstall printer driver."

I get this error with all network printers (I can't try with a local one), package is running on a RDS 2008 R2 x64 (I get the same error on Windows 7 x64 but it works fine on a Windows XP SP3 x86).

Package features:
Program= Microsoft Office 2000
VMware Thinapp version= tried with both 4.7.3 and 5.1.0
isolation mode= tried with both Merged and WriteCopy
build OS= Windows XP Pro SP3 x86
installed components= Word (complete), Excel (complete), Access (complete)

removed components= Outlook, Power Point, Office assistant, Office Toolbar)

Solutions already tried:
-build package with different VMWare Thinapp versions (4.7.3 and 5.1.0)
-removed all printers (and its registry entries) before postscan process
-"%SystemSystem%\spool" and "%SystemSystem(x64)%\spool" attributes set to "Merged"

Anyone could help me?

Thank you guys

Problem creating RStudio ThinApp

$

I'm attempting to capture RStudio with ThinApp 5.1.0-2079447.  I was able to perform the pre-scan, install the app, and get through the post-scan process right up to the point where you give it an inventory name / project location.  At this point, Windows throws a "Setup Capture has stopped working" error.

The VM is hosted on a PowerEdge R710, running ESXi 6.  The VM runs Windows 7 32bit, and other than critical Windows updates, only has R installed (which is a requirement for RStudio to be able to run).

Any ideas / hints would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Moving a compiled package breaks (some) sandbox elements - WTF?

$

I've noticed this with a few legacy games I've captured but have re-created the same behaviour with a simple notepad replacement, notepad2-mod.

I've used a clean VM, captured a file-drop of the Notepad files.

  1. Finished capture
  2. WriteCopy as the default mode.
  3. Enabled the cmd.exe debug hook.
  4. Sandbox is within the folder of the package - a la portable mode.

On the host PC, I've built the package with no alteration at all.

When I run notepad2.exe, things work well.  If I create a subfolder and text file within 'InstallDir', it's stored in the sand box.

Multiple edits are fine and all written to disk and reflected within the application perfectly on successive launches.

If I then MOVE the contents of the Bin folder, as if I'm publishing it or copying it to local storage (or a different drive in this case) and then run the application again, I cannot see some of the sandbox content.  See screen grab - virtualised app is in red square, showing oldest data file.  Blue sqaure is the local disk (non-virtualised view), indicating the ThinApp is somehow confused.

The files are still on the disk!  It's like the registry content that 'describes' the sandbox content is sensitive to the sandbox location and is corrupted when the package is moved?

If I copy/move the files out of the sandox, then CMD into the package and copy them back in, they can be seen by the application - for that launch/session.

It's like the engine cannot update the indexes in the registry (VMware ThinApp 5 Documentation Center - Making changes to the sandbox - this is where I got the clue to CMD into the package and copy the files in)

PDF Preview Handler Error

I virtualized the installation of Adobe Acrobat Pro XI v11.0.11 together with Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 v14.0.7015.1000 x86, carried out on Windows 7 Enterprise v6.1.7601 x64, making use of VMware ThinApp v5.1,

I also created an entry point for Windows Explorer (%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe), which allows me to

1. Open .pdf, .doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx, .ppt, .pptx and all other file formats supported by Adobe Acrobat XI and Microsoft Office 2010 with double clicks without the need to create file associations first

2. Get thumbnails and file previews in the Preview Pane together with their properties in the Details Pane in the virtualized Windows Explorer

3. Get working right click menu commands such as "Convert to Adobe PDF" and "Combine files in Acrobat..."

NOW, THE PROBLEMS WHICH I AM FACING ARE THAT I AM GETTING FILE PREVIEWS IN THE PREVIEW PANE FOR MICROSOFT OFFICE FILE FORMATSBUT NOT FOR .PDF FILES, EVEN THE THUMBNAILS ARE NOT GENERATING FOR EVERY .PDF FILE

PLEASE HELP ME THAT.

Thinapp Licensing Managment

$

I recently started at a company managing all the virtualization products. My background is infrastructure mostly and I haven't dealt with vmware desktop and application related software much. Our VMware licenses are up for renewal shortly and they include a lot of Thinapp license packs from a project that was started and abandoned last year before fully being completed. My question is how can I determine how many licenses are needed going forward as the quantity purchased was for the final project and I don't think we need them all going forward in the current state.

I've identified what apps have been deployed as Thinapp's and if they are on Citrix or being deployed to desktop/laptops with SCCM, so the environment is mixed. I've determined what users has access via groups to the thinapp's in Citrix.

The users getting the apps from SCCM seem straight forward from a licensing stand point. My issue is how to determine the concurrent users in the Citrix environment for licensing purposes. I know there are AD groups that give access to these thinapp's in Citrix but with the number that have access I don't believe it’s the same amount actually using them or needing to be licensed in a Citrix environment deployment.

Full isolated IE does not start .xls files

Hi,

i got a problem with a full isolted IE9 with Java 1.7.21

The Java application works fine within IE9 but when i export an excel file, there is no file association with this *.xls so i am not able to view the xls File. The file is OK because i can download it to the sandbox and i am able to open the .xls File outside ThinApp.

I checked already the file associations within the ThinApp and there is no file type association with xls files but with e.g. xlsx there is a association. I tested several settings within the package.ini (ChildProcessEnvironmentExceptions) but it still does not work. Even sbmerge after i changed the setting manually did not work.

How can i set the file type asscociation permanently that i am able to open a xls file with the installed Excel?

Thanks for any ideas.

IE9 thinapp with Oracle Jinitiator does not work with vMware Horizon Agent 6.2

Hello,
i have a problem with vmware horizon view AGENT 6.2v. I have vMware horizon 6.2v installed. I am using windows 7 32bit OS. I have thinapp IE9 and Oracle Jinitiator 1.3.1.13v. My IE9 with Jinitiator is thinapped with thinapp v5.0. Allways everything worked fine with vMware Horizon agent 6 ; 6.1 ; 6.1.1 but with 6.2 agent i have a problem. I can not install

agent 6.2v into vdi, because it crashes IE9 thinapp. So i have to use older 6.1.1 agent. I have never had to re-thinapp my application, because it allways worked fine unitl now. I have tried to make new thinapp application with newest thinapp v5.1.1, but IE9 with Jinitiator still crashes.

My application does not work with IE10; IE11 because it is very old. It only worked with IE9.

I make these steps to thinapp:
Start thinapp / prescan
Check internet explorer entry points: include an entry point for system-installed Internet explorer
Install full offline IE9 32bit
Restart thinapp pc
Start gpedit.msc Computer configuration / Administrative tamplates / Windows components / Internet Explorer / Security Features Turn off data execution prevention. I choose ENABLE.
Start IE choose Use recommended security ant compatibility settings
Tools / Internet Options / Default homepage  http://zzz.somehomepage.lan:...
Tools / Compatibility view settings using Add button i add  somehomepage.lan adress
Reopen IE and choose turn on intranet settings YES (Are you sure you want to turn on intranet-level security settings?)
IE starts downloading and installing Oracle Jinitiator 1.3.1.13v (i use this version) from server http://zzz.somehomepage.lan:... Jinitiator installation is completed successful.
Postscan
Use seperate .DAT file
Generate MSI package.

When i start thinapp i get error in IE9 webpage field:
res://ieframe.dll/acr_error.htm#somehomepage.lan,http://zzz.somehomepage.lan:...

When i search google i find that i have a problem with IE add-on. But i need this add-on. With every vmware horizon view

agent version it worked ok, but with 6.2 agent it crashes. I am using linked clones vdi. What do i have to do?

I attached my Package.ini so you can have a look at it if you want.

ThinApp Oracle Client v10.2.0.4 and Uniface

$

I am trying out ThinApp and am still learning many of the Ins and Outs n' such.  My first project is to ThinApp the Oracle v10.2.0.4 client.  The Oracle client is used in conjunction with an application that runs off of a network drive mapping.  Prior to  completing the build on my ThinApped Oracle I tested the networked application after the Oracle Client was captured and I was able to logon to it.  However, my ThinApped Oracle will not allow access to the Uniface based application.  This is the error message:

Unable to load uora62: error 126 (The specified module could not be found).

The DLL could not be loaded either in the USYSBIN directory or via the PATH variable .

Check if its directory is in the correct place in the Path Variable.

Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Getting around the file path length limit

$

I'm trying to thinapp SAS (yes, I know, it's not really my idea), and the postscan works fine, but writing it out to either a network share (Win 2008 R2) or the local disk (Win 7) isn't working because of the file path length limit.

What is weird is that sometimes it stops and it's using the //?/ modifier that should allow it the extra space to write to that location. Sometimes it isn't using that prefix.

I've looked through a lot of Windows documentation, but there doesn't seem to be a simple way of setting that network share to allow the longer paths.

I also wondered if there's a way to use a Linux server running Samba as a thinapp repository. I attempted to create a share this way, but View wouldn't add it as a repository. I'm assuming that's due to an authentication issue. There doesn't seem to be any way to configure a login to the share.

This is all using Thinapp 4.7 with View 5.

every code base is same .

the application we had uses dll .net 4.0

5.0.1 didnt had this isue .

i upgraded to 5.1 and after  running the application 10 min or earlier it suddently crashes upon clicking any where on the screen.

the same is happening in xp ,win7 or win 8 systems.

this is the eventvwr message i got.

i can see the nt0_dll.dl is the new architecture change in 5.0 and it was stable for us in 5.0.1.

how can i get thinapp to save registration info and block internet

I have been working on trying to use thinapp to make buildbox portable but it will not take the saved key nor will it allow me to block internet so the application will stop checking for updates so it will not try and update itself.

I can run the program just fine when i run the actual program but when i run the build.bat file and build the portable it goes back to the registration screen instead of launching the program in fully activated
