Hello,

Environment:

- ThinApp 4.7.1

- ThinApped on Windows XP 32bits

- Run on Windows 7 32bits

AIM:

- Build a ThinApp of Microsoft Access 2010

- ThinReg the ThinApp it to a VM which has Microsoft Office 2010 Standard already installed ! (I installed Office Std directly on the basic VM)

Issue:

When I launch a macro which create a file and send an Email i get some errors:

  • Windows:
    • There was a problem sending the command to the program.

  • Outlook:
    • Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request.
    • Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as default mail client.

  • Access:
    • Microsoft Access can't send this e-mail message.

  • And it seems to want to install "Microsoft Outlook MUI 2010 (English)"

I already try to add this to the ini file:

- VirtualizeExternalOutOfProcessCOM=0

- ChildProcessEnvironmentExceptions=WINWORD.EXE;EXCEL.EXE;POWERPNT.EXE;OUTLOOK.EXE;MOC.EXE;ONENOTE.EXE
- ChildProcessEnvironmentDefault=Virtual

and

RegistryIsolationMode=Merged

When i build the application, i keep the default settings (Full isolation / Sandbox %AppData%)

Has anybody an idea?

Sorry for my English...

Christophe

Hi there,

Has anyone successfully ThinApp Java JRE version 1.8?  I have tried to follow the instructions in this forum but it did not work well.  The JRE seemed to work with admin rights (tested with javatester.org) but with regular account, IE kept "stop responding" error...jre8.JPG

Thanks,

ThinApp Citrix Receiver 3.2

Hi Guys,

I am trying to create a ThinApp package of Citrix Receiver 3.2 for Windows.

Capture Machines:

- Windows 7 x86 SP1 with VMware ThinApp 4.7.1 installed;

- Full administrator rights;

- Nothing installed, windows updates, defender and those kind of services are disabled.

During capturing, I open the Citrix Receiver, close the receiver en then open the receiver again. Then do a postscan and capture the application.

The captured application is copied to a clean Windows 7 x86 SP VM.

I tried the following parameters:

- VirtualizeExternalOutOfProcessCOM=0

- AllowExternalKernelModeServices=1
- AllowExternalProcessModifications=1
- AllowUnsupportedExternalChildProcesses=0
Merged Mode for \%ProgramFilesDir%\Citrix
Eventvwr of Windows is showing the following error:
The description for Event ID 0 from source Self-service Plug-in cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

Self-service Plug-in exited unexpectedly. Exception was Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.    at Dazzle.Streaming.RadePnaDLL.LoadLibrary(String lpFileName)
   at Dazzle.Streaming.RadePnaDLL.get_IsInstalled()
   at Dazzle.Streaming.RadeDeployDownloader.get_RadeIsInstalled()

   at Dazzle.AppMonitor.Control.Controller.Load()
   at Dazzle.AppMonitor.Program._Main(String[] args)
   at Dazzle.AppMonitor.Program.Main(String[] args).
So at the end, I still don't know how to resolve this issue... Does somebody has any experience with this?
Thanks in advance,
Krishan

taskkill.exe in thinapp package.

We have a thinapp  package that needs to clear the sandbox when the program exits.  However when the remove sandbox on exit option is selected the process for the thinapp package hanges.  The following bat file and vbs script were added to the package to remove certain registry keys and to kill the process if it was still running. However sometimes when the program exits the taskkill.exe crashes with an application error.  This application was packaged using thinstall 3.300, for some reason using any newer version causes issues with a report viewer built into the application.

I did not create the package or the the script but it's fallen to me to fix it.

I'm trying to thinstall some tutorials from the "Professor Teachers..." series.

When I run then exe, I get "failed to create process default activation context".  The program seems to run fine, once you acknowelege the error.  I have checked the system logs, but the error isn't logged so I don't know what file or resource it is trying to access.  I am new to thinstall and I would like to know how to troubleshoot an error like this.  Thank you.

Does anyone know if it is possible to disable the pop-up that appears in the bottom right corner of the screen when starting a ThinApp application? I've been searching through the documentation and the internet and I haven't seen anything on this.

Upgrading Adobe Reader 8.1.2 to 9....

I have a thinstall package with Firefox and Reader together.  What I'm trying to do is uninstalling the Reader 8.1.2 from within the thinstall package as it needs to be uninstalled before installing 9.0.  Of course, all being done within the thinstall environment.  During the uninstall of 8.1.2, the MS Installer runs into this:

Error 1326.  Error getting file security. c:\documents and settings\xxxxxxxxx\application data\adobe\acrobat\8.0\Collab\ GetLastErorr: 5

And thus the uninstall fails.

The account I am using does have full admin rights.

Anybody see this or know of a way to workaround this?

BTW : I was able to workaround this by deleting every known Adobe Reader folder, not ideal but it works, still, like to understand if this is a bug somewhere.

Bentley Microstation

Hello,

I am trying to capture Bentley Microstation v8 - without success.

I can convert the snapshot to an EXE and the application launches normally but when I try to access in the menu Extras -> Makro -> Projektmanager (which lists auto-loaded VB-addons) the whole application hangs. (If I add VB-addons for our CAD users to the captured files the application hangs at its Splash screen.)

I have attached the "Potential Errors" part of the trace file. As a new thinapp user I am confused where to start to look at.

Has anybody a hint for me?

Kind regards,

Errors starting Quartus 7.0 (ThinApped)

Hello all,

I have a problem with an application and I hope you can help me. I am installing the application Quartus 7.0 (Windows XP, SP3). The installation runs smoothly. However, after I've made a ThinApp build and start the application, I get the error message:

================================================================================================

Success: ./bin/jtagserver.exe --uninstall

Success: ./bin/jtagserver.exe --install

Success: .\drivers\i386\bblpt.exe /i /s

Success: ./drivers/sentinel/win_nt/setupx86.exe "/usb /q" /P.\drivers\sentinel\win_nt\i386

Skipped: 'net start sentinel' failed with code: 2

Success: copied "c:/altera/70/quartus/bin/hhactivex.dll" to "C:\WINDOWS\system32\hhactivex.dll"

Success: regsvr32 -s C:\WINDOWS\system32\hhactivex.dll

goto was unexpected at this time.

Error: '.\bin\cygwin\cygreg.bat c:\altera\70\quartus\bin\cygwin' failed with code: 255

mount: warning - /usr/bin does not exist.

mount: warning - /usr/lib does not exist.

Success: ./bin/perl/bin/perl.exe ./sopc_builder/bin/regsopc.pl --quartus_root_dir=c:/altera/70/quartus

================================================================================================

My questions are:

a) Does I have to start the service manual (for example: from a batch file?)

   (Skipped: 'net start sentinel' failed with code: 2)

b) Why does the batch file don't start from an ThinApp bubble?

   (Error: '.\bin\cygwin\cygreg.bat c:\altera\70\quartus\bin\cygwin' failed with code: 255)

c) Why do I get an 'mount' error? It's Windows XP not Linux?

   (mount: warning - /usr/bin does not exist.)

Thank you very much for all the help.

Failed to open, find, or create Sandbox directory

We have a package deployed to several hundred Citrix servers and are only seeing this error on a handfull of servers since an upgrade.  We have a base program.exe that works fine and to upgrade have created a program.250 file to drop in with it so that when the original exe launches it will run the newest version.

The server OS version is Windows 2003 SP2

My ThinApp version is 4.0.4-204871

I've also attached my package.ini file (I've commented out the company name) and the error message the users receive.

I'm wondering if this is possibly an access issue, my username and other admins can run the package without error.  Also, if the error occurs it always references the same path, the user folder under C:\Documents and Settings does not change.

Thinapp 4.5 bug (serious) plus two new feature requests

$
0
0

hi hello,

I joined to inform Thinapp of a serious issue regarding built Thinapp'd exe file sizes.

BUG/DEFECT:- In version 4.5, The file size of the result project seem to be overly larger than expected and with some tests this is very evident. For example: capture solely, a small text editor application with previous Thinapp version (e.g. 4.0.4) with the result exe coming out at 3 mb. However an equally same capture of the same application with Thinapp 4.5 would output the result exe to something like 11 mb (instead of 3 mb). So this is an issue that needs analysing and addressing by VMware.

FEATURE REQUESTS:

1. Save & Load Snapshots (on gui) - Please add the ability to Save and Load Snapshot files. I have seen this in Xenocode. Within current VMware Thinapp I can save a clean snapshot and custom inject it into Thinapp for 'fresh' use by creating an SFX archive (WinRar) with the adding of the Snapshot file and adding some SFX commands.

The custom SFX custom I've inserted is:

"C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware ThinApp\Setup Capture.exe" "%TEMP%/(Filename).snapshot" "C:\ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE HKEY_USERS"

Now as of Thinapp 4.5 this method does work, however it would be nice to be have this feature all built into VMware Thinapp by way of just starting Thinapp and Opening a Snapshot file. Think of users who maintain the same 'clean' Windows as the identical pre-scanned snapshot file.

2. Multi configuring the ##Attributes.ini - It would be nice if within Thinapp we could have the option on the dialog GUI to multi-change all ##Attributes.ini file's to 'Merged' or anything else. In the case of the Capture folder. Yes, I can use a tabbed text editor like Notepad++ to drag n' drop all the ##Attributes.ini file from a Windows Explorer file search and then just multi-find & replace. But that method of mine is more tedious. An all in one method in the Setup Capture gui dialog would be better. Please agree.

Process (ifrun60.exe) remains active (Taskmanager) after closing thinapp under windows7 (xp works)

Hi,

I have installed "oracle forms6 runtime + reports" as a Thinapp. The Thinapp works fine. I can also open the thinapp a second or third time.

But when I close the Programm the process "ifrun60.exe" remains active (Oracle Forms Runform)!!

If I try to start the programm again it waits until i kill the "old" process. After killing the process the thinapp application starts.

The Problem occurs on Windows7 32bit and 64bit.

Under Windows XP the thinapp works fine.

I tried to build the thinapp and run the thinapp in compatibility mode (Windows XP SP3) but the problem was the same.

With Process Explorer i only found out that some Threads are running. (some with Wait:UserRequest some with Wait:wrQueue)

When I install the "oracle forms6 runtime + reports" as a regular application under windows 7 it works fine.

No processes remain open when I close the application.

Are there parameter/switches for the thinapp.

Any suggestions, ideas?

Thinapp 4.6 Office 2007 - There is not enough memory or disk space

$

Hi Guys, Im trying to Thinapp Office 2007 SP2 Enterprise on a Windows 7

64bit VM. Constantly Im getting the message 'There is not enough memory or disk

space to run Word' whenever I try to run any office app on my virtual machines.

So far I have tried the obvious, giving the VM 8gig ram and stupid amounts

of disk space, for the primary disk, persistent disk and temp disk.

I have also tried just packaging Word on its own.

I believe this error used to be caused by an issue with the normal.dot

template on machines, if this is the cause this time im not sure how to

troubleshoot it with persistent disks.

The only other package I have thin app'd so far is Firefox which is

obviously a lot smaller but works perfectly.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated because I would like to trial these apps around the office before the trial period runs out.

which way to applink between office 2003 and Outlook 2007

We have package office 2003 core apps (word, excel, powerpoint), and some office 2003 aux app (i.e. Project 2003,  Access 2003, Visio 2003).  We also package Outlook 2007 as a separate thinapp.  The users community want to be able to utilize the send to Outlook from within their Office 2003 application.  Since all of the office 2003 thinapp are separate outlook 2007 thinapp, currently it will not work, by default to outlook express.  If I want to fix this, can I just simply applink my office 2003 thinapp package to outlook 2007 thinapp .dat or .exe?

File associations not being set

$

I'm having problems with many of my thinapps not setting the file associations properly.

My most easily reproducible one is for VLC media player. All the associations show up in the package.ini like this:

FileTypes=.3g2.3ga.3gp.3gp2.3gpp.669.a52.aac.ac3.adt.adts.aif.aifc.aiff.amr.amv.aob.ape.asf.asx.au.avi.b4s.bin.caf.cda.cue.divx.drc.dts.dv.f4v.flac.flv.gxf.ifo.it.m1v.m2t.m2ts.m2v.m3u.m3u8.m4a.m4p.m4v.mid.mka.mkv.mlp.mod.mov.mp1.mp2.mp2v.mp3.mp4.mp4v.mpa.mpc.mpe.mpeg.mpeg1.mpeg2.mpeg4.mpg.mpv2.mts.mtv.mxf.nsv.nuv.oga.ogg.ogm.ogv.ogx.oma.pls.qcp.ram.rec.rm.rmi.rmvb.s3m.sdp.snd.spx.tod.ts.tta.tts.vlc.vlt.vob.voc.vqf.vro.w64.wav.webm.wma.wmv.wsz.wv.xa.xm.xspf

But yet my users are still not getting the file associations made. Also the browser integration is not working. So double clicking on an avi file for doesn't do anything.

My users are not admin and I used scripts and thinreg with /q /r options to install. Using merged or writecopy isolation modes doesn't seem to matter and I have tried TA 4.7.2 and 4.7.3 with same results.

SAP GUI Excel export

$

So I have my SAP LogonPad presented to my Linked Clones with ThinApp and everything is working great except for one thing. When using the export to excel function of reports, the file is being created in the proper location but Excel is not being opened with that file. The user can manually open excel and find the file, but I would really like to have the automation back that exists when everything is native installed. Office is native installed, and the OS is Win 7 x64. I'm wondering if the problem is that a) SAP was captured on Win XP and b) Office was not installed when SAP was captured.

Im wondering, even though it kinda goes against how a ThinApp should be captured, I should capture SAP on the master VM for the Linked Clones?  Office is installed, and the OS is obviously the same, but the drawback would be that this ThinApp capture could only be used on my Linked Clones and no where else.

Anyone have any thoughts or insight for me?
