ThinApp - Windows 7 (x64) / Internet Explorer 9 / Java 1.71

Help!  Has anyone successfully packaged these together.  I have tried several different ways and every time I package it together either the browser won't work at all it just hangs, or I get lots of prompts about my java being out of date.  How do I package them together where it will run the webpage I need without any prompts or error messages.

Things I have tried.

1.  Install IE 9 - Run a prescan install java and then run post scan

2.  Run a prescan - Install IE9 and java - and then post scan

3.  Install IE 9 and java then click the Internet Explorer option and then post scan.

Any which way I try it, it won't open on any box or opens and prompts.  Please help.

Thank you.

Thinapp clickonce app

Hi

I'm working with a click once app that requires you to logon to a webpage first and then have the link on the webpage launch the app. This means I can't open the clickonce app directly, because there is session token that is passed from the website to the click once app. In a last attempt to get this to work with Horizon View application pools I'm trying to put it in a thinapp. The problem is I've captured internet explorer 10 and that works as expected, and I've tried to capture the dot net framework 4.5 as well. When  I launch the click once app , I get a message that "ClickOnce has stopped working" and the event is CLR20r3 and it references dfsvc.exe, System.Drawing, and System.ArgumentException. Has anyone seen something similar?

If I set ChildProcessEnvironmentDefault=External  I don't get that error, but that's because its using the local dot net framework.

Registry.rw.tvr error

hello

i use a virtualized program and there is the registry file registry.rw.tvr with 126.521.344 bytes.

so it seems that the size of this file makes problems, bekause it produces always copys of it

with the name damaged....

i looked for the vregtool from net and tried this:

vregtool registry.rw.tvr printstats

as result

unable to load error message for id 13

i also tryed to export, but also the same.

i think the size of the registry is on the limit because it doesent become more on size,

it has the same size since the problems began

and i found no solution for repair the registry or clean it

that the size will reduce.

sure, i can delete it, but its a mail program and there are all the settings and accounts

and i dont want to loose all the accounts and mailprograms, because i tried to

delete the registry and copy than the mails in the new one, but than i can't see the mails.

i hope there is a solution or program wo cleans the registry

MS Visio and Project 2013 on Windows 10 - License Issue

Hi All,

I am trying to get Visio and Project 2013 to run on Windows 10. Every time I launch it I receive an error stating "Microsoft Office can't find your license for this application. A repair attempt was unsuccessful or was cancelled. Microsoft Office will now exit".

I ThinApp'd it on a clean system, but am launching it on systems that have other Office apps installed locally.

I tried to use the TAOffice tool as stated in VMware's KB 2107369, but receive errors when trying to run it. One error states "OfficeSoftwareProtectionPlatform\OSPPSVC.exe error: The system cannot find the file specified".

I tried copying OSPPSVC.exe to the locations on Program Files and Program Files (x86), then it give me an error stating "OSPPSVC.exe is native".

I used the TAOffice tool when I ThinApp'd these on Windows 7 and it worked well.

Does anyone know how to get this working????

Many Thanks!!!

Using 'SetfileSystemIsolation' in VMware ThinApp v5.0.0 1391583

Hi all,

Seems I've found a bug with scripting API. In two words, function "SetfileSystemIsolation" has no effect at all. For example, call "SetfileSystemIsolation "C:\Merge", 2" with line "DirectoryIsolationMode=WriteCopy" in "Package.ini" gives default isolation (WriteCopy) directory "C:\Merge". All changes will be sandboxed. I've tested this for VMware ThinApp v5.0.0 1391583 and VMware ThinApp v4.7.3 891762. Result is the same. But it works as should in VMware ThinApp 4.5.0 238809. Please, someone test and confirm.

P. S. Also there is error in "thinapp50_manual.pdf" on page 83, function "SetfileSystemIsolation" referenced as "Setfile systemIsolation(Directory, IsolationMode)".

ThinApp Tableau Desktop not working properly

I was trying to Thinapp tableau desktop, I tried with Thinapp version 4.6 and 4.7 but it was giving some error, so I downloaded version 5.1 of Thinapp.

this time I was able to capture tableau properly. I also added license key for tableau before capturing the package but when I launched this Thinapp package to any other machine it still ask for activation.

In short it is not capturing license information of tableau.

Have somebody try to Thinapp tableau yet? If yes then any help would be appreciated.

Thinapp and browsers (Chrome and Firefox), lots of issues

Hello:

Are there some guidelines or best practices for capturing Chrome and Firefox?  The reason I am asking is that we are having a bunch of issues with each.  In more detail:

Chrome: We thinapped the latest version of Chrome, without any additional plugins, with and without the --no-sandbox option per the KB article here:

http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=2104409VMware KB: Google Chrome fails when capturing Google Chrome with VMware ThinApp

This one works fine on the initial run, but after it is closed and opened a second time, it will not work properly after that.  It crashes, then upon re-launching it will consume 100% cpu and its window never opens even though the process is running.  If I clear the Thinapp sandbox folder for Chrome, it will open up fine for the first time, but when opening a second time the same issue comes back.

Firefox: We thinapped the latest version of Firefox, along with the latest Java 1.8.x, latest Flash, and VMware client integration plugin.  It worked fine for about a week then all of a sudden one day it no longer launches (and we haven't changed anything) with the error: Fatal Application Exit, Unable to Open.

I've been looking around and the information is fragmented.  I've seen posts with similar issues in the past but supposedly they were resolved with later versions of the Thinapp setup capture program which we are using the very latest and greatest version (5.1.1).  To my knowledge we are using best practices and using a bare minimum Windows 7 VM to capture with.  Any help would be appreciated, if there have been known working solutions or combinations of versions that work.

Thanks in advance.

VMware vSphere 6 Essentials Kit license issue

Hello,

I am completely new to all of this and looking around for help. I was trying to do vMotion of my VMs without vMotion using your software version 9.5.I tried in four different ESXi 6.0 servers and I get the same error: "Current vSphere license or ESXi version prohibits execution of the requested operation"

I've checked Software Explainer Video but I don't see the detailed. After that I tried to reinstall the vMware license but doesn't works, the workaround that I have used is: Go to licenses -> Install new license -> And I had installed the same version to re-apply the license. I didn't use a free license of vMware, why it's not working? .I went through many resources but did not find any solution for this issues. Please help me out.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you

Downloads not available with ThinApp virtualised Internet Explorer 10

I am attempting to virtualise Internet Explorer 10 on Windows 7 x64 to deploy on Windows 10 x64.

I can successfully virtualise this using ThinApp, however when using the virtualised copy on Windows 10, I am unable to download any files and also cannot access the downloads area within Internet Explorer either from the menu or using the CTRL+J keyboard shortcut.

Anybody seen this behaviour before or managed to get downloads working with ThinApp virtualised Internet Explorer?

Thanks

ThinApp Boot Loader Error - Mikromarc - Server 2016

Hi, I'm sure I have solved this before but I'm not able to find the solution for this now.

I'm trying to run it from network share as FQDN in UNC path, tried both DFS and without DFS, not working. If I copy the package locally it works fine.

Anyone knows what obvious thing I'm missing this time?

Also tried to enable the string SetVirtualModuleFileNameInPeb=1 as that worked for Chrome at some point earlier.

It's packaged with 5.2.2 on same OS it's supposed to be running on.

Entry Point to physical installed software

$

Hi guys

I am having an application which runs with an Access frontend (*.mde) and has in the background an oracle database.

Up till now the software was only compatible with access 2003 and we had the following installations thinapped:

- Access 2003

- Oracle Client

- Oracle ODBC Connection

- some regkeys

Now the application is compatible with access 2016. Access 2016 is installed on our base image, so we don't need to thinapp access 2016. We only need the Oracle Client, ODBC Connection, Regkeys... but the entry point has to be Access.

For example:

[XYZ.exe]

Source="C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office16\MSACCESS.EXE"              (--> also tried it with %programdir% variable)

WorkingDirectory=\\Server\Share

CommandLine="C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office16\MSACCESS.EXE" /runtime "\\Server\Share\Access.mde

Shortcuts=%Desktop%

But at the end of the build process I get the Information that it can't find %programdir%\Microsoft Office\Office16\MSACCESS.EXE"

I guess it's looking for this path into the capture folder and not on the physical machine. How can I make this working or is it not possible?

The [Isolation] is set to: DirectoryIsolationMode=Merged

Kind regards

64 Bit OS/Apps don't support VBS?

$

We have recently moved to 64 bit base OS for Horizon.

When building any thinapp on this new base OS, it will not work if I include a VBS file (for doing the FirstParentStart functions etc):

  • Packaged Thinapp works fine without a VBS file.
  • VBS file works fine on it's own.
  • Even if I comment out everything or have a blank VBS file, the ThinApp package doesn't work.

It does attempt to run, but fails:

  • ThinApp popup appears with license details
  • the process spawns (seen in Task Manager), but then exits.
  • Packaged App doesn't run
  • no errors are shown.

Found similar issue (VB script crash thinapp ) but the solution doesn't apply to me as that DLL is not present in the package.

Any ideas?

VBScript to copy file to sandbox, not virtual file system

$

Wondering if anyone can help, I have a VBScript which is attempting to copy a folder to the local sandbox but it keeps copying to the virtual file system, is there a way around this? I have implemented a msgbox to verify the path I have specified and it's given me the location of the local sandbox but when it copies the folder it copies to %AppData%/Local on the virtual file system. Hope my explanation makes sense. I'm assuming the redirect is by design.

Windows 10 Thinapps - Slow Launch on Thinapp 5.2

$

Fortunately we've made progress since Thinapp 5.2 enables support for Windows 10, however every package that we've rebuilt with Windows 10 has the same issue. It can take anywhere from 1 minutes to 3 minutes to actually open. Once open, the application appears to function normally.

Is anyone else seeing this? I can't seem to find any posts regarding this issue but for us its happening on physical and virtual windows 10 machines.

I haven't tried to fully repackage an application on 5.2 yet but hoping that won't be required.

Any advice would be appreciated, if not then I'll go ahead and see if we can start a ticket on it.

ThinApp - Paint.NET problem.

Hello,

We have tried packaging Paint.NET but it did not work. We used a clean virtual machine while doing that but the resulting .exe file does not even work on the virtual machine although Paint.NET works on it.

.NET is packaged together with Paint.NET. The error is:

"Missing Import C:\Prpgram Files\paint.net\SxS\X86\ucrtbase.dll -> kernelbase.dll:CreateProcessA"

We have also tried copying .dll files in different directories but it is still not working.

Thanks in advance.

Note: Same problem with TortoiseSVN.

Did anybody successfully thinapp office 2016?

Hi all

Today I tried to package office 2016 (with KMS). But somehow the licensing made some problems.

I tried the guides of 2013 (Guide) and 2010 (Guide) but either didn't help.

Was anyone able to do this successfully (with KMS)?

Office 2013 - Outlook previewer not working

$

Wonder if anyone can help, bit of a weird one, I have successfully thinapped Office 2013 and it appears to be working fine except for one thing, the previewer in Outlook will not work, when you click on an attachment to preview it either comes up with "unable to load dll oart.dll ... access denied" or the following message "This file can't be previewed because ofan error in the Microsoft Word previewer", the access denied message has me wondering but that dll is present in the captured package in the Office15 folder.

Please see details of the thinapp:

- Office Standard 2013 32bit captured on Windows 7 vanilla 32bit, straight capture, no plugins etc

- Steaming to Window 7 64bit (not sure if that is an issue? everything I've read said it should be fine streaming Office 32bit to Windows 7 64bit)

- Using ThinApp 5.1.0

- Outlook previewer is working fine locally on the thinapp machine

- I'm only testing the previewer on other Office documents (word, excel etc)

This is a minor issue but our users will be expecting the previewer to be working.

Any ideas?
