Advanced Thinapp options (pre-thinreg check, complicated unregister question)

Hi all,

I've got a script that I've built that automatically thinreg's applications for users. Combined with Windows Access Based Enumeration, it does a nice job of only registering what a user has access to. I'm not using the PermittedGroups feature as that is somewhat painful to maintain. Rather, we're relying on the ACLs of the thinapp bin directories (with ABE) to show/hide an app from a user.

So, a couple of questions.

1. To improve login time, I'd like to do a "registration check" to check to see if an app is registered on the machine. I noticed that in the HKCU\Software\Thinstall registry, there are the Thinapp apps that are registered to the user and in the HKLM there's the ones that have been installed to the machine. Other than scraping the registry, is there a way to check for the presence of a Thinstalled app so that it can be skipped if it's already present?

2. As we're not using the "PermittedGroups" feature if we remove the user from the group which hosts the Thinapped app, the user will no longer see the folder that has the Thinapp package in it to unregister it. I noticed that in the registry, there's a pointer to a folder in the user's profile that uses a vbs file that seems to do a scrape of the Thinreg'd app. Is this the recommended way of unregistering the app if you don't have access to the original source, or is there another more efficient way?

Thanks,
