In our environment we have a pretty weird issue. First, a little background. We have Lotus Notes for our enterprise. We virtualized an iNotes package which is simply an empty package with an IE entry point (our virtual desktops are Windows XP Pro SP3 w/ IE7) and the iNotes activex control. We also virtualized Microsoft Office 2003 Standard (Word/Excel/PowerPoint).
iNotes works fine - users can see and work with their email. The issue is when they add an attachment. If they attach a .DOC file they sometimes wish to open it from iNotes to make sure they attached the correct file. Based on user responses and my own fiddling it looks like this only occurs to Word documents. What happens is you double click the attachment to open it and in the corner you can see the ThinApped Microsoft Word launching. You can see it in Task Manager. However the document never opens. You never actually even see Word fully open either. I've confirmed that it works correctly for Excel and Powerpoint files, but not Word files.
Does this sound like a Word specific issue? Any idea on where I might want to start looking? Anyone else see this type of behavior before?
