I am in the process of using Thinapp to repackage an application to be placed on a Windows 2008 R2 terminal server. The application requires a Static IP, which I am assigning to the server. I am going to deploy the application using Terminal Services Remoteapp so that the user can run the application on their desktop but it will really be running in the server's environment.
My question is as follows. My application invokes Microsoft Excel to run reports. I don't want to virtualze Microsoft Excel, just the application I mentioned earlier. If I thinapp the application, will it be able to go outside its virtual sandbox to talk with Microsoft Excel if it is installed on the physical hard drive of the server? If it is able to do this, my second question is, if I then remoteapp the application will it be able to run the Microsoft Excel from the server when I run the application using Remoteapp?
