Installed App linked to ThinApp'd App

I wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction with a problem I have......

We have locally installed Outlook 2003 / Outlook 2007 and we need to get them to link to a ThinApp'd application called Iken.

I have quite a few times linked the other way using AppLink, i.e. Linking a ThinApp App to a dependency or other application, however I can't figure out how to link an installed app with a ThinApp'd one.

The Iken Application integrates with Outlook by adding a couple of files to the Outlook add-on folder.  Now that's not an issue.  I can use the users profile to place any files anywhere.  The issue is that those add-on files create a few buttons on one of the Outlook menu bars and when clicked then open the Iken application.  So the issue is that because the Iken application is not installed clicking the buttons within Outlook would do nothing.  Do I need to just register the ThinApp application or is it a case that the ThinApp application needs to run in merged mode BEFORE Outlook is opened?
