We are evaluating VMware ThinApp for our company. Actually we've thinapp'ed most of our standard applications and we are testing the applications in our corporate environment.
Certain functions which refer to a deeper OS integration are not working or are not implemented. I'll try to explain it with an example.
Using a minimum standard client (XP SP2), registered (thinreg /a) the most used applications as a thinapp'ed package (SAP Gui, Office 2003 Pro, Adobe Reader 8x, TeamViewer 3), everything works fine. But if you're working on a Sharepoint Website (MOSS 2007), go to a document library site, right click on a document and chose the option "send link via e-mail" outlook express is started. In the Internet Explorer "program options" you don't have the option to choose MS Outlook as the prefered e-mail client.
We've allready tried to add/modify some registry entries which point to the default e-mail client - until now with no success.
Another problem appears when you're browsing a website with a PDF document. Normaly, the PDF document is opened within a Internet Explorer window. With thinapp'ed Adobe, the document is opened in a seperate Adobe window.
I hope some can give us a hint to solve this problem!
regards,
Martin
